A brand answering everything kills the community

Unanswered questions in a community show that no one is around. When questions go unanswered, people stop asking new ones.

The other failure is the opposite. If a company replies to every message within minutes, the group stops being a community and becomes a support queue with worse tools. The members who used to answer one another go silent.

To tell the difference, you have to read the thread. For a question about a limit, you need the official reply. For a question of opinion, it is better to have three members give different views, then have the company respond to close the matter.

Timing is part of the judgment. Leaving a question for a few hours gives the community space. Leaving it for a week is neglect. The difference is the channel's own rhythm.

How the agent is built in Agent Studio

Community tone lives in prompt skills and is distinct from support tone. A reply in a Discord thread that sounds like a helpdesk reads as corporate, even when it is correct.

The system prompt names the question types that should receive an official response, such as factual questions about behavior, limits, or the roadmap, and which types should be left to the community. It also states how long to wait before intervening.

Because the agent has MCP connections, it can search the documentation and give factual answers that cite something real.

A Start Scheduled flow sweeps the channels. A Discord node and a Slack node read the threads. A Filter node drops anything already answered. The Agent Chat node then requests a judgment for each thread.

Drafts go to a Human in the Loop node. The agent never posts directly in a community, because it is much harder to withdraw a misjudged public reply than an email.

Google Sheets records which threads were not responded to and whether the community responded. That column is used to adjust the waiting period for each channel rather than estimating it.

What this agent is built from

  • Prompt skills: community tone, kept distinct from support tone. A community reply that uses helpdesk tone reads as corporate even when it is correct.
  • System prompt: which question types warrant an official answer, and how long to wait first.
  • MCP connections: documentation search so factual replies cite something real.
  • Discord (Integration): reads community threads. Slack fits the same slot.
  • Filter (Data): drops threads the community has already answered.
  • Slack (Human in the Loop): holds every draft. The agent never posts publicly on its own.
  • When an ActionFlow is enough: If alerting on unanswered threads after a set time is enough, build the workflow. Deciding which threads to answer is the agent's job.
