ActionFlows Documentation

Official ActionFlows documentation. Build, run, and automate AI-powered workflows with a visual canvas, triggers, integrations, SDKs, and a REST API.

Welcome to ActionFlows Developer Documentation

ActionFlows AI is a workflow automation platform for developers and founders. You compose AI, integrations, and human approval into production workflows on a visual canvas.

Use it to automate customer support, generate content, or build approval systems. You wire AI nodes, logic, integrations, and human-in-the-loop steps into one executable graph.

What Makes ActionFlows Different

ActionFlows occupies a specific design space. Here is how it compares:

vs. n8n: General-purpose automation for IT ops. ActionFlows is AI-first: LLM nodes, image generation, and audio transcription are core primitives, not plugins.

vs. Make: Connector-heavy platform. ActionFlows is a directed graph of AI, control, integrations, and HITL. Studio can show an estimated token cost when cost calculation is enabled for the organization.

vs. Gumloop: LLM chain builder without a full run surface. ActionFlows adds a visual graph, HITL, named org connections, credit metering, and an execution API.

What you get:

  • AI, control flow, integrations, and human approval on one canvas
  • Estimated token cost in Actionflow Studio when the org flag is on
  • Named organization connections instead of secrets on the graph
  • REST, TypeScript SDK, and hosted MCP to run flows and chat with agents (design stays in the app)

Start Here

New to ActionFlows? Read What is ActionFlow, then build your first flow in the Getting Started guide.

Building a conversational AI assistant? Start with Action Agents, then integrate via the Action Agents API or TypeScript SDK.

Prefer to learn by doing? Follow the Quick Start or one of the end-to-end Tutorials.

Building programmatically? The API, SDK, Webhook, and MCP gateways are execution-focused (discover, run, and chat). Design stays in the app.
