Format is a decision, and it comes before the script
Script generators usually pick a talking-head format because it is the safest choice, even though it is a poor fit for most subjects.
A tutorial should include screen sequences, proper step timing, and a point where the viewer is told what they will be able to do. An announcement should have sixty seconds and one message. An interview should have questions, not lines. If they are all written the same way, they all fail. The reason is not visible in the script itself. The script still looks competent.
The choice of form affects everything that follows. It determines the length, the structure, whether the visual or the voice carries the meaning, and whether a demonstration is used instead of an explanation.
If the output states the choice and its reason at the top, a person can disagree within ten seconds instead of reading two pages.
How the agent is built in Agent Studio
The system prompt explains the formats your channel actually uses. It specifies the purpose of each format, and requires that the chosen format and its reason be stated before any script is written.
Prompt skills hold your channel conventions: how you open segments, how long they run, and what your audience already knows, so the script does not explain those again.
The agent uses the generation tools included in Studio. If it thinks a visual reference would help the person taking the shots, it generates storyboard frames. If it decides the format does not need them, it generates none and says so.
The output goes to Notion as a shot list with timings, together with the script, because that is the format you can actually shoot from.
After the script is approved, an ActionFlow can continue. Generate Speech creates a scratch voice track for timing. Generate Video produces reference footage when that helps. These are flow steps, not agent decisions. The agent decides the form. The flow produces the assets.
Because sessions last, a producer can object to the chosen format and ask the agent to rewrite it in another form without repeating the subject.
What this agent is built from
- System prompt: your formats, what each is for, and the requirement to declare the choice first.
- Prompt skills: channel conventions, segment length, what the audience already knows.
- Built-in tools: generation attached in Studio, including storyboard frames when warranted.
- Notion (Integration): receives the shot list and timings in a shootable format.
- Generate Speech (AI Core): produces a scratch track for timing as a flow step after approval.
- Generate Video (AI Core): produces reference footage when helpful and also serves as a flow step.
- When an ActionFlow is enough: If every video follows one format, a workflow with your template is faster and more consistent.
