Change detection is easy; significance is the product

Page-diff tools keep a record of each change, for example text modifications and footer updates. Teams receive a daily summary that reports no changes. They stop reading it after two weeks, and they miss the price change three weeks later.

The product is the filter. To judge that a reworded hero is noise and that a new tier is a strategic move, you need to know what your competitor has been doing, not only what the page said yesterday.

Interpretation goes beyond filtering. When a price cut on one plan and a new enterprise tier land in the same month, that is the direction the competitor is heading. A marketing lead needs that narrative, not two separate alerts.

Apply the same scrutiny to suppression as to notification. You only see that the agent's threshold is wrong by looking at what it chose not to send, and nobody does that.

How the agent is built in Agent Studio

Configuration decides what counts as significant. The system prompt states what is strategically important in your market: pricing structure, positioning language, a newly created segment, and what counts as routine maintenance.

Prompt skills set your competitive frame: who the competitors are to you, where you already overlap, and the specific moves you are watching.

A Start Scheduled flow drives the sweep. The Scrappey node retrieves the pages, the Google Sheets node holds the previous version, and the Agent Chat node passes both to the agent for comparison and interpretation.

Only significant changes reach a Slack node, each with an interpretation and a suggested response. The rest go quietly to Google Sheets.

Keep the raw diffs. If you disagree with a judgment, and you will, the only way to settle it is to look at what the agent read.

Allow only public sources. Put that constraint in the system prompt as an explicit rule, not as an assumption about what the tools can do.

What this agent is built from

  • System prompt: states what counts as strategically meaningful versus routine maintenance in your market.
  • Prompt skills: set your competitive frame and the specific moves you are watching for.
  • Scrappey (Util): retrieves the public pages on a schedule.
  • Google Sheets (Integration): holds previous versions and the silent log of suppressed changes.
  • Agent Chat (Util): hands old and new versions over for comparison and interpretation.
  • Slack (Communication): receives only significant changes, with an interpretation and a suggested response.
  • When an ActionFlow is enough: If you watch one specific pricing page, a workflow with a diff and an alert is enough. The agent is for watching a competitive set.
