Timestamps are what make a recording usable
A lecture recording is published and rarely rewatched. Finding the four minutes when something was explained means scrubbing through an hour, so students do not. The recording serves as reassurance rather than a resource.
Notes organized by topic solve the navigation. Timestamps solve it completely. A student who did not follow one explanation can go straight to it.
Accessibility is the stronger argument. For students who process written material better, students working in a second language, and students who could not attend, a text version is the difference between a session being available and a session being accessible.
Notes are not a substitute for attending and should not be written as one. Organized notes with timestamps point back into the session. A polished standalone summary quietly replaces it.
How the ActionFlow runs on the canvas
A Document Upload node reads the recording. A Transcribe Audio node converts it, retaining timestamps throughout the transcription.
An Extract Data node segments the transcript by topic shift rather than by fixed interval, because a topic is what a student looks for and a ten-minute block is not.
A Generate Object node returns, per segment, the topic, the key points, any questions asked in the room with their answers, and the timestamp at which the segment begins.
Questions from the room are worth extracting separately. They are usually where the difficulty in the material actually sat, and they are the part a student skimming notes most wants.
A Generate Text node writes the notes with timestamps as navigation. A Notion node publishes them alongside the recording.
A Generate Object node produces a short topic index at the top, which is what turns a long set of notes into something usable in the ten minutes before a seminar.
An HTTP Request node publishes to your learning system. A Human in the Loop node holds the notes for the educator where your policy requires review before student release.
Nodes this ActionFlow uses
- Document Upload (Data): takes the recording.
- Transcribe Audio (AI Core): converts it while retaining timestamps.
- Extract Data (Data): segments by topic shift rather than by fixed interval.
- Generate Object (AI Core): returns topic, key points, room questions, and the starting timestamp.
- Generate Text (AI Core): writes notes with timestamps used as navigation.
- Notion (Integration): publishes alongside the recording. HTTP Request pushes to the learning system.
- Slack (Human in the Loop): holds for educator review where your policy requires it.
