Session plans fail on timing, not on content
Lesson planning begins with the content and is ultimately constrained by time. The plan includes all the points, and the session covers two-thirds of them. The last part is what was scheduled last, not what was most important.
If you start from the length, the outcome changes. With ninety minutes available, what can be included, and what is the cost of adding one more item?
Checkpoints are the thing most frequently left out, and they are the factor that determines whether the session was a success. An educator only realizes the gap at the next assessment, because you have no chance to find out whether the participants followed along.
Variety of activities matters during a long session, and that variety is easy to arrange. Losing a room by sticking to one activity for ninety minutes does not depend on the quality of the material.
How the ActionFlow runs on the canvas
The flow begins with a Start node that takes the topic, the session length, the group size, and what the students should be able to do afterward. That intended outcome is the input most often omitted from plans.
A Notion node uses the materials you already have on the subject, so the plan relies on what is already available rather than explaining something that would have to be built.
A Generate Object node returns a structured sequence of segments. Each segment has a duration, a mode, a purpose, and a checkpoint, along with the materials required for it.
The Math node adds up the segment lengths and compares the total with the session length. If a plan exceeds its allocated time in this calculation, it also exceeds the time allowed in the room. Catching that now costs nothing.
Instead of silently trimming, an If node sends the plan back with the overage stated. Trimming is a choice the educator makes about what is important.
The Generate Text node creates the facilitator version with timings and transitions. The Create Excel node produces a simple running sheet.
The plan is stored in a Notion node alongside the topic, so it improves each time the topic is taught rather than having to be reconstructed.
Nodes this ActionFlow uses
- Start: takes topic, session length, group size, and the intended outcome.
- Notion (Integration): supplies existing materials so the plan uses what you have.
- Generate Object (AI Core): returns segments with duration, mode, purpose, and a checkpoint.
- Math (Util): totals durations against the session length.
- If (Control): returns an overrunning plan with the overage stated rather than trimming it.
- Generate Text (AI Core): writes the facilitator version with timings and transitions.
- Notion (Integration): stores the plan, so it improves over time.
